It is with heavy hearths that we announce the death of Robert (Bob) Smith. He passed away peacefully at Hilltop House surrounded by family.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years Virginia, his children Warren, Karen (Gordon) and Dale (Jen) as well as his grandchildren Jeremy, Ryan, Cassidy, and Jordan.
Bob grew up in South Vancouver. He led an adventurous life in his 20's and 30's, from manning fire watch stations to managing bowling alleys, before meeting Virginia and settling in to family life. He ended his working career when he retired from Woodfibre. He was an active member of the Squamish community in business, recreation and politics for many years.
He loved fishing and all sports immensely. He was a man who always had a story to tell and could often be found in the morning having coffee with friends at Tim Horton's.
He was a devoted family man who cared deeply for his wife, children, and grandchildren. He was a true friend to his workmates, neighbours, and all who knew him.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hilltop House.
