Mom had such a positive and beautiful influence on her friends, family and extended families in her new home of Squamish as well as the Arrow Lakes area. There will have a celebration of Eilene in Squamish on Friday, July 5th at 3:30pm at the Squamish Funeral Chapel as well as a Celebration of Eilene for friends and family in Nakusp BC, Saturday August 3rd location TBA.

I had no idea Eilene was gone. I lost touch with everyone from my earlier years after Ed passed and my chances to get back into the Kootenay area were few. Eilene was a great woman, strong person of great character. I have only met a handful of truly good people in my life, and Eilene was one of those. I hope for the best for her family, and i know she will be missed.

I was so sad to hear of Eilene’s passing. I spent my summers in Beaton and my family knew the Daney’s well. I spent many summer days with Nicky! So many great and wonderful memories. I was the youngest of 7 kids and of course my parents did not have time to teach me to swim. One afternoon when I was 12 Eilene taught me in the lake at Beaton. I will never forget. A truly gentle soul. I regret losing touch. Hugs to you Nicky and Leighton.

I’ve been remembering thoughts and times spent with Eilene, it wasn’t that long ago we chatted about her and the girls coming over to the island in August and I’m sure we would’ve talked about these memories then .
I think it might have been one of the first times we went up to Nakusp. Ed and Eilene took us up to trout lake, she had this old cook stove outside to use in the summer for canning, cooking , I loved it and wanted one in Errington . Eilene is someone I’d want near, rather she would be your best emergency kit, to have, she’s a survivor, with a wealth of skills, out in nature, ( she had her own trap line ) you would be ok

Another time on a trip to the island the guys went out so Eilene and I decided to build some flower boxes of course we used the best looking wood in the shop ......ooops! ....oh well they were beauty’s.
Go get more wood .....

And then up on Hornby island long before you saw or could buy seaweed salad Eilene had made me some fresh from the sea .....and sea lettuce
Did I say I pick Eilene Daney to be on emergency preparedness team with all her knowledge

Oh we had lots of laughs , so sorry my friend you had to leave, was looking forward to seeing you but
I’m grateful our paths crossed more than a few times, and my memories will last for a lifetime ,
Thank you for sharing parts of you with all you met 💗 we have been blessed!

Loving thoughts going out to Leighton, Nicky and their families, but I know you’ll be watching them always and forever!

Dear Eilene's Family, Eilene will sorely missed in our lives and in her Squamish Tops Chapter. Eilene has brought so much energy and joy to our group in the last year. She was going to be our leader. We were so excited with her enthusiasm. It will be hard to fill her shoes. She was happiest talking of her family and especially her grandchildren. Our sympathies are with you. May her memories bring you the love she had for you and those around her. Sincerely, Polly Prozny, Squamish Tops Friends.

Hi Nikki and Leighton,
I loved your mom. Eilene was a super hard worker no matter what she did. She used to phone me and we would talk forever. She loved our TOPS group in Nakusp and was even the leader one year. She always asked me for my advice and saw the good in almost everyone she met. “Shannon,” she would say, “think of a contest that we can do to help people lose weight.” We both loved the contests. She emailed me from Squamish and asked me to send her ideas for contests for her group down there. We understood each other when it came to weight lose, or shall I say lack of weight lose sometimes. I was happy for her to be able to move down to Squamish from Nakusp. I will admit I did miss her and am saddened by her passing away. Facebook has been wonderful to be able to see her pictures. I could see that she was happy and was able to be with her family. May she Rest In Peace . I am sure she is up in heaven looking down on her family and taking care of you. From Shannon Heppner
