We are all saddened to announce that after a courageous battle, Karen has passed peacefully surrounded by her family. Remembered always for her kindness, love of animals and heroics in sports. Many lives of the people of Squamish have been directly touched by her and we are all lessened by the loss.

I will always hold memories of my time spent with Karen fondly. She was a huge part of my early years and I am forever grateful to have had her friendship. We spent countless hours playing in our backyards at each others homes, in the neighborhood parks and the woods surrounding the Garibaldi Highlands. She was a huge part of my learning how to speak English as when we first met Spanish was the language spoken in our family home so through our time playing I learned to speak english so we could understand eachother. Karen was always sensitive, kind and private. I respected this about her. As life goes we drifted as we aged out of school and went on to have families but whenever we did see eachother we always chatted. When I became aware of Karens illness I was deeply saddened and spent time in prayer for her and the entire family. Mary, Jeff and James you were such a loving family and Karen was so blessed to have you! Her childhood was rich with love and support and happiness. I know as an adult whenever Karen and I ran into one another in Squamish she would speak about her children, husband and dogs with so much love. My sincerest most heartfelt condolences out to all of you.
