Jan. 19, 1929 - April, 2020
Patricia, Sandra, Cheryl & families are heartbroken to inform you of the passing of their Mother and Nana, Wilhelmina (Wilma) Wilson at the Sea To Sky Hospice.
Our Mum was born in Vancouver in the winter of 1929. As a young girl she moved with her parents Lawrence & Marguerite Webber and older sister Lenore to Bralorne, B.C., where her Dad was the resident plumber.
Back in Vancouver in later years she began working in sales, one day an intriguing voice on the phone that changed her life and resulted in a blind date and subsequent marriage in 1952 to our Dad Robert (Bob) Wilson.
After we were of school age, Mum went to work for the T. Eaton Co. at Park Royal.
In 1972 our family moved from North Vancouver to Squamish, where Mum spent almost 10 years running the "corner store" Wilson Cresent Centre.
In April 1981 life's path was changed dramatically with Mum & Dad relocating. They happily settled into their new home, planting gardens, building decks and enjoying the new neighbourhood. This is where they met their new neighbour Gwen, who become a treasured friend, she was a wonderful gift that continues for our family.
Mum enjoyed younger voices again, as in her desire to keep busy, she started a daycare for her friend Mindy's son and daughter and friend Lorraine's children.
The 80's & 90's ushered in the Nana journey for Mum who embraced her 11 grandchildren with her unending love and pride. Great grandchildren were yet a twinkle in her eye and by 2016, 3 had arrived.
After a long illness Dad sadly passed away in 1998, leaving Mum heartbroken and so very lonely.
Christimas 2000 was the start of happy trips to Vancouver Island, countless sunsets were enjoyed at waters edge as well as road trips with Cheryl and family.
In 2002 a very special fluffy orange kitten, who was named Flash, came into Mum's world filling her home with his company and affection.
Grandson Cameron who had endured serious health issues had his Nana's specail love as she helped with his care over the years. In 2015 Cameron spread his wings to join his Grandpa.
Looking after us all with her skills in the kitchen, Mum was a good cook and loved baking goodies for us, including the world's best peanut butter cookies.
We all had warm scarves to keep out the winter cold as Mum perfected knitting as well New born grandchildren were each honoured with a beautiful shawl blanket and many sweaters.
Our Mum was a kind, gentle, loving, strong and independent beautiful women who loved to dance. Always taking the time to stop and share a genuine friendly connection when meeting up with those that she knew from her 48 years here in Squamish was Mum's way.
So grateful for you Mum.
You made our hearts warmer
and our lives richer in too
many ways to count.
So much of the happiness
we've know can be traced
back to your love.
So... Thank you Mum
for all your caring and for
